OLA Secret Santa Event
I am happy to be part of the Secret Santa event at www.OLA.com this year. Apparently this has been done at OLA in previous years but this is the first year I’ve been able to participate in it. Our hostess for the event is MetzyMom (thank you Metzy).
I don’t know who my gift recipient or my Secret Santa will be yet. We will be sent the gift recipient info shortly, won’t know who my Secret Santa is for a while yet. The anticipation is killing me. Will it be Fleapirates, Metzymom or TheRoyalTreasures, or maybe TJinTX or DraggonTagger.
Oh, this is going to be so much fun.

Holiday Sharing
With the holidays coming up I am seeing recipes popping up all over the place. If anyone would like to share their favorites here, I’d love to have them.
I have seen how very generous people in this country are and this time of year we usually become much more so. Please be generous again this year. I know with the ecomony the way it is right now it’s going to be hard for most of us but even harder for those less fortunate. I’m sure you know the loss of jobs that so many people have suffered. Many of them are fighting to just feed their loved ones much less be able to provide any gifts for their children.
Please be as generous as you possibly can with your donations, the smile that even a small gift or a nice Holiday meal puts on a childs face is worth way more than the gift itself.
For myself, I will always be grateful to the people who were so kind and giving with my own family when I was a child. Thank you so much.

Mary’s Miracle Kitty Rescue (MMKR) has created a sellers account on OLA to raise money to help with the cost of providing special food, veterinary and other care for the special needs and other kitties that they rescue. They also hold adoption clinics and try to place as many of the kitties in suitable homes as possible. It can’t be easy trying to find people willing or able to adopt a special needs kitty.

Pie Birds
What the heck is a pie bird??
Well, pie birds are used in fruit pies to funnel or vent out the steam that collects to prevent messy spill overs in your oven. They are mostly an old fashioned item that today are collected more than used, although some people still use them. One of the nice things about them is you can start collecting without having to sell your kids or grandkids or your home to fund your habit. There are some very reasonably priced pie birds available. Some can be a little pricey but save your money until you become a serious collector. Below are some that are very reasonably priced.
As you can see from the picture above, pie birds are not just birds. They can be most any type of cute critter and some other things as well.
